A Peking Duck

Recently I discovered Saatchi Online. They exhibit some really amazing artist from all different mediums and price points. A fun little tip when viewing the site is they allow you to view the artwork in a model room. Giving you a feel for how work looks in a space and of course the scale of the actual piece. I find this extremely helpful when purchasing art. Today I am featuring artist Hyeonkyeong Yeo. Her placement of vibrant patterns is so intriguing and quirky. Not to mention she is a fellow alumni of School of the Art Institute of Chicago. If these two ladies were mine they would go either in my dining room (breakfast nook), entry way or office space. Happy hump day!

Marni(e) Mondays: Red Carpet

Marnie (Allison Williams) from the HBO series Girls is being honored for todays post. There were many women who nailed the red carpet last night at the 71st Annual Golden Globe Awards. It seemed too perfect that Williams wore and insanely beautiful patterned (top portion) gown by Alexander McQueen. Along with her onscreen name being Marnie. Double win. Not only is she gorgeous, but always appropriately dressed from top to bottom. Among my favorites from last are; Lupita Nyong (Ralph Lauren), Amy Adams (Valentino), Taylor Swift (Carolina Herrera), Olivia Wilde (Gucci), Cate Blanchett (Armani) and Caitlin FitzGerald (Emilia Wickstead).

Love

Paris_2.jpg

I was lucky enough to spend the holidays overseas in England (pics to come) and Paris. Spending New Years Eve and my 30th birthday in Paris was a dream come true. Being there with someone you love during the holidays is extremely romantic. Sharing these types of moments with your best friend is what life is all about. When I was 16 years old my school took us on a trip to Europe and Paris was one of the stops. My experience was not the best and I never really had much interest in going back. This time around I am happy to say it might be one of my favorite cities in the world. The people could not have been any nicer. We were lucky enough to stay in Le Marais, thanks to Time & Place. Staying at hotels is amazing, but staying in an apartment is a completely different experience. An amazing one. Le Marais has wonderful bistros on every corner and lots of wonderful chic boutiques. For my birthday we had dinner at the top of the Centre Pompidu. So romantic with long stemmed roses everywhere and a view of the city. Can you say fairy tale? I highly suggest putting Paris on your bucket list and if you have been go back and try a different neighborhood. "When good Americans die, they go to Paris." - Oscar Wilde.

First post of 2014! These photos felt completely appropriate for the start of a new year. I came across this editorial project for FOAM magazine on Behance. Patterns in the set design and in the clothes. Just perfect. Stay tuned for pics from my amazing holiday spent overseas. Cheers!

Spin Art Umbrella

As I prepare to head off to England for the holidays, I am reminded of rain. I have these amazing purple wedge Fendi wellies and this umbrella would be the perfect accessory. Very nostalgic of my younger years, playing with spin art was such a treat back in the day. Produced on the occasion of the Damien Hirst exhibition at Tate Modern in 2012. We all love his iconic spin artwork. These umbrellas would make great last minute stocking stuffers and can be found via Other Criteria
